DD is just about 3 and pretty patient. I am thinking of getting a memory game. Any recommenadations for board games that were a big hit for this age?
Also , good places to buy? TIA

Memory, Cariboo, Zingo, Candyland...

I read a great review of a game that involves essentially building a picnic through taking turns. Sounded great for your DD's age.

There are deals on standard games at Target and TRUS right now. Both Amazon and Kohl's usually have a good holiday sale, too. For Zingo and other Think Fun games, we go to our local independent toy store.

Good luck!

Boardgamegeek ahs tons of lists - I saved qute a few, but have little personal experience with the games:

Becca is 3 and loves Hisss. She also plays Feed the Kitty, though she doesn't usually make it through a complete game without deciding to play by her own rules. :wink2:

I'm sure these are repeats from the PPs, but DS started around 3 as well.

I think we started w/ a Memory type game from Eeboo (just a few pairs at a time and worked our way up).

We also used High Ho Cherry Oh and Snail's Pace Race early on.

Haba has some cute ones that work for younger kids like Block on Block (has a little crane-like thing as part of the game), and Grab Bag (can simplify by only using some of the shapes initially if necessary).

Zingo

Cariboo

Haba Orchard always gets good reviews.

Hi Ho Cherrio, Candyland, and any Memory game are great options. There is also a great Diego game where they put tiles with a certain number of animals on it onto their game board that is really good for numbers and counting.

I have to say no go on Hungry Hungry Hippos. It's not your father's Oldsmobile, and that's not saying a nice thing. Putting it together is from hell, the "marbles" are now hollow plastic and do not behave as expected on the game space (i.e., you have to tilt the board to make the marbles go), and the hippos, themselves, don't have alot of shelf life; they stop moving smoothly quickly. Plus, the box says "easy storage!" Not. You have to take the hippos apart to make it all fit back in the box. Trust me, it ain't easy and, in fact, will likely break the game once put together. Taht's what ya get for 9.99. Find a vintage one online, but stay away from the new ones.

Blokus, though DS2 usually makes up his own rules. Good for turn-taking though. Haba Orchard. Cariboo, Memory. My 3yo niece has a video Disney bingo type game that she loves to play.

Was it this one? There is also a similar one that is Tea Party themed. I thought these were cute.
