Got an answer on SD - the CDs will ship with the order regardless of the code, but customer service is saying the free shipping code is invalid (not sure why since it works).

I called CS and they were quite perplexed about the free shipping code too. She wanted to know how I heard about it. I told her a friend told me about the deal and also provided a free ship code, but I didn't know where she found out about it.

They said the CDs should ship. She said if they didn't call, and they would send them! We'll see.

Now I am worried that they will run out......

We did one of these grab bags a few years ago, and some of these oddball books turned into DS1's favorites, lol. That time, they did substitute a few of the titles (must have run out of stock), but it was no big deal. The CDs are a nice bonus!! BTW, shipping was only 3.95 for me, still a good deal.

I never received a confirmation e-mail, so checked my credit card statement, and it was charged on 11/25, but I still haven't received it yet. Hopefully it will arrive today. If not, I'll be contacting customer service.

Finally got ours last night. DS1 tried to listen to a few of the CDs this afternoon, and they were all blank (supposedly had 3 tracks, but no sound). We'll try them in the DVD player to see if that's works, but they haven't worked in two CD players.

Anyone else have this issue?

I have to sayI am disappointed in the quality of the CD's. The first two tracks of each one play loud squealing static. I was hoping J could learn to put these in the CD player on his own; FFing through two tracks will make that harder. Plus, there's no tone to turn the page, which I think is pretty standard for kid's books on tape.

I called customer service and wasn't too satisfied. The woman said the two staticky tracks weren't a problem and had never heard of a book on tape that had a turn-the-page signal. She said I could pay to return them if I wasn't happy. Eventually I got her to give me a label for free shipping. I may keep them anyway, it was a good deal for the books alone, but I certainly won't order any more from Weekly Reader.
