Can I watch TV / movies on the Ipod touch?

I am trying to load a show and keep getting errors. I tried watchtvsitcoms.com and abc real tv. Neither works although it says it works with safari browser. I've never used anything Mac before so I wonder if there's something obvious that i'm missing. I know it has YouTube, not sure of the difference.

Never tried watching movies/tv directly from the internet on the Ipod touch (being I cannot get my wireless to work on it) but DH has downloaded movies and tv shows on it and you can watch it that way. I have never actually dowloaded them - DH did it for me - he is saying saying something about downloading it in MP4 format...not sure what that means but I am sure you can search the internet for some assistance.
