My DS is in 2nd grade and they are about to start in with Multiplication. I'd love to help him get a head start cause he is doing really well with Math anyways and seems bored with the current stuff they are going over. Any suggestions on websites or games or tools.... whatever to help him learn his multiplication tables?

Thanks

My old favorite site for all things math was a New Zealand website:

http://www.rainforestmaths.com/

Unfortunately, she's taken the site down b/c it was being copied, but she keeps telling folks to check back in at the beginning of 2009. Another decent website for math is a BBC site...my DD is in 1st, so I haven't explored the older kid sections, but we like it for some fun math games:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/ks1bitesize/numeracy/index.shtml

I think if you went to that site and clicked back to the general schools section, you could find some more age appropriate math games for a 2nd grader. Also, just out of curiousity I googled multiplication games and a ton of other sites come up.

My students LOVED the multiplication rap CD I had. You might be able to find one online- I got mine from the "teacher" store.

Multiplication bingo is fun, too. You can also type up the table he is working on and time him- Minute Math.

Make up games with flash cards.

Don't forget about Schoolhouse Rock! ;)

Also, Sarah loves the Math Missions games.

You could also just sit down with him and show him how 2+2+2 = 2x3. You might be surprised. We did that with Sarah and she just got it.
