Unit blocks for a 3.5 year old? Weapon?

DS is 3.5 and likes his magnatiles and legos. I was going to get him some unit blocks as his BIG xmas gift but DH is worried DS #1 will get hurt/hurt DS #2 (15 months old). He isn't really mean but does occasionally push or hit DS #2. Thoughts? We also could get the cardboard blocks out (in a box right now put away).

DS2 was already playing with our unit blocks when he was 15 mos.

Dc got them last year when Ds was 6 and Dd was 2, we've not had any weaponry problems. If we did the blocks would be put right away, though.
