Gold Party?

I was invited to a gold party this Tuesday. Anyone know anything about them? I don't know what company or anything. My friend who is hosting told me that she got $1000 when she went to a party and turned stuff in?

i went to one last month. It was just run by a jeweler who would check the gold to confirm it was in fact gold, and if it was 10 or 14 K. Then he would weigh it and give you the per-ounce rate. I remember the party I was at was about 1 week after gold dropped quite a bit so it wasn't that profitable, but I got $300 and my sister got $400. Since it had been sitting in our jewelry boxes all these years, it was like found money.

So if you are have stuff you don't care about, why not?
