ISO --> Play people

I really want to get DS some play people that are more like action figures, rather than Little People or Barbies. I found some interesting ones in "Constructive Playthings" catalogue, but they seem overpriced for what we're getting. Anyone have any suggestions that I don't have to worry about the made in China thing?

Yeah, 2nding Playmobil. I am not sure how it will go as we're just entering the world of Playmobil for Christmas. DS is approaching 5 yo, but he's expressing some interest.

eta: I like that there are options like Pirates/Knights, etc. for kids into that, as well as things that are not focused on weapons, etc. like construction workers, farmers, etc.

I've read somewhat mixed things (better or not vs. Playmobil), but there's also Mighty World from International Playthings.

Keep an eye on the sets at Target. I picked up a pirate set a couple months ago for $13 (regular price $17).
