We are moving overseas with our DD and there are frequent power outages in the city we will live in. I just bought a Sony BabyCall monitor but realized when I opened it that the receiver runs on rechargeable batteries but the transmitter has to be plugged in to work. Are there any monitors that can just run on batteries (both the transmitter and receiver?).

Yes. The safety first glow and go is completely wireless. However, it does use batteries. We are overseas as well and bought a small converter to use our babycall when we need it. But in our home, we find it isn't necessary to use a monitor- we are in a small enough place that the sound travels to us easily!
