Quick: Bouncer or swing

Quick question because I'm at a store that has a fabulous sale (closing sale, local store)....buying a shower gift for my friend, would you guys recommend a bouncer or a swing. Our DD used only a very basic bouncer (we could not afford anything more). I wonder if one is better than another.

We never had a bouncer, so my vote is for the swing! Both my girls loved theirs.

Bouncer - DH & I would have DIED without both of ours.

DS2 liked the swing, but DS1 did not.

Cradle swing--loved it with DD2 (much better than the take-along swing we had with DD1)! The bouncer was not a hit with either kid.

Bouncer - I would never have eaten without it. DS wasn't a fan of the swing.

Cradle swing !!!!! Could NOT love without it with both kid's !

The cradle swing was a huge hit with both girls. The bouncer wasn't the biggest hit with the oldest but has been indispensible with the youngest. That said you can pick up a basic bouncer for pretty cheap. A good swing is expensive so a good deal is great.

fisher price rainforest bouncer!! we barely used our sweetpeace swing for $179 :(

I vote bouncer, our swing didn't get used all that much.

You ladies are AWESOME, we ended up going with the FP rainforest bouncer which was the one with the great deal ($15 :) ) since it seemed like a lot of people liked their bouncers. If you had said that DC didn't like bouncers, I would have gone with the original plan of a swing.

Swing! Definitely the swing. She can always buy a cheap bouncer if she really needs it later.

Bouncer. Neither of my kids liked the swing for more than 10 mins :shrug: We got more use out of the bouncer and I couldn't have survived without it...I would always shower, etc. with the kids sitting in the bouncer.

My swing was a graco open top, but it only went front to back. The cradle swings were just coming out or not yet that available when DS was small (born early in 04). He just never went for the front to back swing. With DD I briefly considered buying one that had a side to side mode to see if she would prefer that, but I was afraid to waste the $$ since she didn't seem all that fond of the front to back swing.

So my vote is the bouncer since my kids didn't like the swing. So many babies adore their swings though!

Maybe for my other friend (I have 2 of my closest friends having DC#1) we will buy a cradle swing since it seems like babies find one or the other indispensible!
