HELP! With AIM Account........

So we finally broke down and let our oldest dd open an AIM account, but we can't seem to get her a screen name. Every combination we try, it says the screen name has been taken. We even use their suggestions and they say their taken! Is there some kind of scam going on? Any tips? TIA!

What's AIM? My DD recently got an e-pet for her b-day and we spent over an hour trying to get a name for that thing. It's so ridiculous, it just kept saying that name is taken. Why don't they offer a "sorry that's taken, how about......". I feel your frustration.

Thanks for your replies! We literally spent hours this afternoon trying to make up screen names....so frustrating! Then I got the idea for dd to ask her cousin (my 13 yo niece) and she was able to create a screen name and password that AIM finally accepted! My skulking preteen was finally happy! Thanks again, this AIM thing is new to me.
