Just posting since I know many of us have this toy....here is Haba's take on the cadmium in the marbles:

Thanks for posting this.

Anyone know the method for testing from the Toxic Toys study that was in Forbes? Healthytoys.com, I *think*, does surface testing. From this response, it sounds like they would have had to pulverize the marbles to get cadmium out?

I'm feeling a bit dense. Just to make sure I've got this right:

1. Haba says that cadmium is in the marbles.
2. The part of the marble that has cadmium is totally surrounded by something else so the cadmium is basically inaccessible to someone playing with the toy.

Is that what they're saying?

Is that correct?

yup, that's how i read it. i'm not too worried about it, as long as my kids don't swallow it. i would probably worry even if they ingested "safe" marbles.
