Brainstorm toy storage with me

Feel free to post your toy storage dilemmas!

Our Unit block collection is outgrowing its bin. We currently have them in a canvas bin on the floor similar to this

but now that we have added our third set the bin is bulging. I'm thinking of getting some unfinished stacking vegetable bins at AC Moore similar to these:

Anyone have similar bins or another storage idea?

Also what is everyone doing with thier Matchbox MegaRigs Shuttle, etc? I thought I could use a mesh drawstring bag (similar to a lingerie laundy bag) but allas, the shuttle is too large. We also got a secondhand MegaRigs Boat and Sub which are currently taking over the bathtub. There was barely any room in there for little brother tonight.

I am still trying to figure it out, but we definitely need some new storage solutions after this Christmas.

I love your stacking bins idea - are the bins from AC Moore as large as the ones from Land Of Nod??

I bought some sterilite 3 drawer bins from Target the other day. One is dedicated fully for my dd's barbie/calico critter/horses stuff. The other bin has our Matchbox space shuttle in one drawer (everything except the bottom piece with the wheels (don't know what it would be called) fits in the drawer when the pieces are taken apart), magnatiles in the second drawer, and geotrax pieces in the third.

It doesn't fit everyone's needs, but we love our Expedit shelving from Ikea, with the large Branas (?) baskets that fit the cubbies.

I have the IKEA SNACK box with RILL casters for our unit blocks. It is super easy to wheel the box around even though it weighs quite a bit.

Oooohhh I like the wheel idea.... How big is the Snack box? About how many blocks do you have in it?

Krista-- is this for a public room in the house? Or for a child's room/playroom?

I'm a IKEA TROFAST addict. I'm obsessed with labeling the drawers. The key feature to me is having small, medium, and large drawers/boxes for different pieces. So I can divide up our sets and no one box is too heavy and it's easy to find special pieces if I keep them separated. I hate big "black hole" boxes because the one piece I want is invariably at the bottom.

Marisa has the correct dimensions. It is a nice sized box.

I had to go downstairs and count the blocks as I combined three sets to get what I have now. I have 154 blocks and the box is approx 80% full with the blocks just tossed in. If they are stacked neatly (which I have been known to do on occasion), the box is maybe 50% full. I think I need to get more blocks! LOL!

where did you get your canvas bin? i think it might work for us. i need to tame all the baby toys laying around on the family room floor.

any other ideas out there for baby toy storage in the central living area? dd2 is 6 months so i would like her toys very accessible. i love the look of those vegetable boxes, but am looking for something much cheaper.

The pic I posted is from Target. Search canvas bin. The actual bin I have I scored at a garage sale for $1. I've also seen them cheap at Tuesday Morning. I love mine but it's too small for our collection of blocks.
