it is interesting to me that my own parents are just under 1 year apart, my inlaws are only a few weeks apart and my sister and BIL are just over a year apart- she is older. it feels like we all kinda did the same thing. my BIL, however, is 5-7 years older than SIL. (i can't remember how old she is, just that she is young!)

A fun tidbit I learned in college from Population Dynamics for you - the most common partnership btwn males & females (long term, monogamous) throughout the world seems to be with the male two years older than the female. That was 10yrs ago, so maybe it's changed now.
