DS2 really likes stacking toys. DS1 was never into them and barely used the one that we have. I would like to get DS2 a new one for his first birthday that can grow with him, but isn't too complicated for now. We have a Melissa & Doug one with 3 different rows of stacking pieces (circles, squares & octogons). Something a little more playful and childlike would be nice.

TIA

Obviously, this won't help you but Target has a Circo one that sounds just like what you are describing (the one you already have). My friend has it and it was really nice. Just in case anyone else is wanting to get one....

We have these two, which I like - first one has a matching 'threading beads set' that can use the rings interchangably:

I bought these rainbow arches for my son when he was 2 yo, about 2 years ago. We have the extra large arch set.

They are so beautiful! I like to keep most toys concealed behind cabinet doors, these are always out on display and very often are incorporated into my sons' play. They've been stacked, nested, made into caves for animals, skate ramps for their playmobile skaters, they created mazes for their trains, bridges, roofs for wooden block buildings, etc. It taught them the color order of the rainbow.

I know the price is expensive. (I think I paid $60) Occasionally, atoygarden will have 20% off codes, but at least in my house, it has had lasting appeal with the kids. My boys are now 4 and 5.5 and these still get used weekly after 2 years!! Hands down, it was one of the best toy investments I've made and it will be one of those toys I save for the grandkids someday.

Spiel und Holz has some lovely stuff but they may be backing out of the US market with the new changes to consumer products...so if you want anything from them, act now. We have a ring stacker and the large stacking rainbow arches and they are both beautiful toys. They have a variety of nesting and stacking types of toys. Lots of the Waldorf retailers carry them.

I've never seen it IRL but the Holgate toys stacker always looks appealing (and it is made in the USA)

Thank you all for your suggestions. I think that I am going to buy the big rainbow for my son. I like that it can be used for many different things and grow with him.
