Can I add another recommendation? Once you've finished Twilight, get the Sookie Stackhouse box set. It's vampires too, but very different than Twilight -- emphasis on humor. And the characters are NOT chaste. Great fun, and you get 8 juicy novels for $30 on Amazon.

Seriously! And I second the Sookie Stackhouse recommendation - I love them.

Ooh, definitely have to check those out.

And yes, the Twilight series is definitely literary crack! Major withdrawal after I read all four in a very short amount of time!!! We're here for you when you finish! ;)

YES!!! It is most definitely crack...I carried my Twilight books EVERYWHERE...I read anytime there was a minute of quiet time. I have thought about reading them again but am hoping to wait till the second movie comes out.

Same here...I am trying to find something with similar appeal but no luck yet. I like the Libba Bray series, but not nearly as much as Twilight.

This series is total crack! I'm on book #3, and I've been reading every spare chance I get! I don't know what I'm going to do after book 4 though. I felt the same about the Harry Potter series -- I can't get enough!

I've only read the first Twilight book. What are the other books in the series and what is the order? I need to get over to the library soon because I'm nearly done with my current book (not in this series).

FWIW, I can't wait to also start the sookie stackhouse series. I just finished watching True Blood on HBO and LOVED it!!

I totally agree. I am on book number 3. My dealer is my friend. She started me on it and has all 4 books. I am addicted and can't get enough.

Oh, no, not another Harry Potter like series!!!! Seriously, I have to consider reading them after all you mommas have said. Totally OT, but the other day, I saw a 13 year old reading one and wondered if they were appropriate at that age group.....

Wait until you get to book 4 and realize that you're on the verge of no longer being able to supply your addiction !!! :)

I would not let my girls read them at that age. Way too sexy IMO.

Do you think they pick the right actor to play Edward?

YES! I wasn't sure at first but after seeing the movie the first time I was convinced. After seeing the movie the SEVENTH time I realized I have a major crush on a 22 year old! lol:ROTFLMAO:

Did anyone else see the article about casting Dakota Fanning as Jane, one of the Volturi vampires? I think she would be great in that role. It would definitely be different from other movies shes done. I'm anxious to see who else is cast in New Moon.

Isn't it totally pathetic that I'm reading at stop lights just to get a sentence or two in? I'm #3 (Eclipse) and I'm totally addicted, too!

I can't believe you are all getting this wrong. These books are not crack, they are EXACTLY your brand of heroin. :wink2:

NICE!!!

And totally true. I revamp all the time. I keep the books in the car and read them while I wait in carpool or during the kids' activities. If you really need an Edward fix, you can also venture into Fan fic. But my goodness - some of these are hot hot HOT! :wink2:

LOL, I have to admit that Twilight is definitely one of those guilty secrets. Is it only women who are addicted though? :P I've only read the first two, though, but haven't started on the third because I'll just end up staying up all night to finish it.

Yeah, mama wants her book back. ;)

For those who want more vampire fun after reading Twilight and Sookie, try Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series. It's kind of a twist on vampires - these are considered romance novels so they do have graphic scenes.

Is it only women who are addicted though? My husband read the series before I did... in about a week. He didn't feel the need to re-read, though!

I couldn't agree more! I am about to start reading them again. Last fall I thought eh, not sure if these are really my thing. My sis read the first on her honeymoon in Sept and gave it to me when she got home. I breezed through it and immediately read the next three. Then I read the unfinished "Midnight Sun" on Stephenie Meyer's website, which was awesome. It's "Twilight" but from Edward's perspective. Saw the movie the day it opened with my sis.
