I'm just wondering how much people pay to have their taxes done by a CPA?

Ours are slightly complicated because I am a consultant (self proprietor) and our investments are in a trust, so the trust has tax forms filed as well.

We live outside Boston, so I thought moms in Mass or other cities in the Northeast would have comparable situations.

We live South of Boston and pay to have ours done by a cpa. Ours is complicated because my husband is part owner of a company and our house ownership is kind of strange (long story). Our taxes are paid by the business, but if I remember correctly, our personal portion runs around $300. Just to give you a ballpark...

I'm in Baltimore, so more mid-atlantic than northeast, but we paid about $400 last year (my husband's self-employed and we had some complicated trust issues, too).

We pay around $350 north of Boston. Another complicated job here. I would love to pay less, but when DH did them himself, we had some issues with the IRS. :jammin:

We're in Metrowest and paid around $350-400 last year. DH and I both choose to forget the exact amount! :)

OK, well, we're paying $1200! So clearly based on other's responses, we are paying WAY too much!!!

I'm not sure of the exact amount, but I think we pay about $1000. And that's not including the year we paid $2400 because of the dummy doing our taxes who charged by the hour and we were too young and naive to say anything at the time.

Ours is tricky too. I'm self-employed. Sometimes we had income from two different states. We have a lot of investments and a family investment and trust...in the past there has been sweepstaking income. So it's not the easiest to do, but it's not so so complicated.

After our fiasco above, $1000 seemed like a bargain though! And we've been going to him for a few years. It's also partially deductible because of the business, but...oh yeah, I'm southwest of Boston. About halfway between Boston and Providence.

We are in central CT and pay about $300 - DH & I file jointly and each kids has to file b/c of some investments, but we pay around $300 TOTAL.

When we started with this acct 9 years ago we paid $250 -price has gone up over the years.

We live about 20 minutes outside of Boston and pay about 300-350 but ours is also a little complicated with self employment and rental properties. HTH, Jackie

Ours is partially tax deductible too. I did forget to mention that. We actually paid much more a few years ago, when this accountant first did our taxes, but after that first year, he has charged less which is why I put up with the $1200!
