I am looking for something like this:
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=sr_list_16&listing_id=20636481&ga_search_query=children%27s+patterns&ga_search_type=tag_title
http://ny-image2.etsy.com/il_430xN.55928978.jpg
I know someone who will make some dresses for me, but I don't know how to communicate what I want. Will an experienced sewer even need a pattern for something like this?
TIA!

If she has anything close, she probably wouldn't need a patern- I wouldn't at least. Having said that though, you could find patterns like that anywhere- try the simplicity website for starters. Other options- mccall's, or any of the off brand ones they sell at any fabric store, walmart, etc.

ETA: GORGEOUS fabric btw!

That would be an A line jumper. :) An experienced sewer probably would not need or would already have a similar pattern.

Jo Ann's Fabrics regularly has $.99 sales of their patterns...I want to say the Simplicity ones.

I think I have this one, it is 'Simplicity #7056. It's so easy size A 2-6.' My BIL gave it to me (don't ask...) so I'm not sure where he picked it up but I'd guess JoAnne's or Walmart. HTH

oh and you can search at www.simplicity.com

www.elegantstiches.com (http://www.elegantstiches.com)

many of the less expensive brands have issues with sizing. i find the brands at elegant stitches to sew perfectly everytime and worth the extra few dollars.

(i design children's clothing and carry my own line, in case it matters to you what my experience is. ;) )

I really like youcanmakethis.com, expecially the Carla C. patterns. I made a couple of her bowling shirts for Disney- a Cars one, a Nemo one- and the pattern was just awesome! And as a bonus, b/c of the ways she explains things, I actually learned a ton, and was able to apply that stuff to other patterns.
