Does anyone have the Melissa and Doug stacking/nesting blocks? I'm trying to decide if I should get the wood or the cardboard. The cardboard doesn't seem very durable but I'm scared of the wood splintering or DS falling on one. Opinions?

We have cardboard and it has held up surprisingly well. They are about 3 years old and I have had to reinforce 1 with tape.

We don't have the M&D ones but ditto the above -- they hold up REALLY well.

I got the M&D (against my usual boycotting of MIC toys) and I was quite taken aback by the toxic smell emitted from them.

We got a set from M&D for Christmas and I did not notice any smell.

We have 2 sets of cardboard stacker/nesting sets of blocks. These http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?r=1&ourl=Nature-Nesting-Blocks%2FJulie-Aigner-clark&ISBN=9781423114529 and these http://www.fatbraintoys.com/toy_companies/challenge_fun/nursery_rhyme_nesting_blocks.cfm
They are both nice and have held up but I prefer the Einstein ones since they are more visually interesting imo.

Thanks all - I ended up picking up some cardboard ones at Costco that came with a board book for $10.
