Would a doll stroller be okay for a 1st bday present? My niece's birthday is next week and I want to get her something no one else is likely to get. We have a big family and she has an older sister so lots of toys already. She is walking, I just can't remember if my DD was able to push a stroller at this age. I thought I would get her the smaller Maclaren stroller at TRU, since its a little shorter and should be easier for her to push.

If she's walking really well I'd consider a toy stroller, but if she's a newer walker I probably wouldn't because most strollers tip over pretty easy. My niece, who's 14 months, always ends up pulling the stroller on top of herself when she tries to push our two and it frustrates her a lot.

I think it's a nice 1st bday gift. I think my DD got one at about 14-15 months and loved it. Even if she's not ready at exactly 12 months, she will be soon after.

We have the Mac Quest one (not from TRU, but may be similar) and DS (15 mos)pushes it all the time. It is blue and carries dogs when he's pushing it.

We got this one for DD for her 1st birthday:

It's really cute and she's able to push it around, it's not too tall for her. It also plays music and she loves to stand behind the stroller and dance. We bought the panda to go with it - and I'm thinking about getting one of the other animals too :)

I think it's a GREAT birthday gift. My girls started using their's soon after they turned one and it is probably in their top 3 favorite toys ever since. Definitely had longeveity here at our house. And, imo, better to give a toy they will be growing into then one that will have short-term appeal. I'm looking to replace our two strollers as they have almost had it, so you might want to check people's suggestions here:

Thanks for all the replies. I wanted to get her something she could use for awhile because they outgrow toys so fast at this age.

Erin, the fisher price stroller is cute. Does it tip over easily? Is the music it plays annoying?! I don't want it to drive my brother and SIL crazy!
