Which bike is best for that age range? This will be for DD's 3rd birthday in May. She is very tall - about 38" right now and growing every day. I want something lightweight and decent quality but not terribly expensive. We'd love pink but anything would be okay.

DD got the boy's version of this for her 2nd b'day, and I feel like it will be great for her this summer. http://planocycling.com/itemdetails.cfm?ID=8717

Your local bike shop may have them in stock.

We bought that for DD last year...she never did like it :). But, DS1 got on and loved it. Just past his 4th birthday, we took the training wheels off his regular bike and he did great.

I hope she'll like it more this year, but so far, she likes the one with pedals and training wheels.

We bought this for our 4.5 year old for xmas last year. http://www.amazon.com/WeeRide-12-Inch-Push-Bike-Blue/dp/B001CGYGME/ref=pd_bbs_6?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1235487475&sr=8-6 At the time the price dropped to around 36.00! He LOVES it. We allow him to ride it in our house in the winter and then it will become an outside toy. Even in the house.....you can already tell how much he has learned on this bike. He will be unstoppable outside LOL

We have been happy with our Kinderbike:

We got one from the outlet and it wasn't too expensive.

I bought my grandson the Strider bike in June for his third birthday. Then at Xmas he won a 12 inch regular bike at the Co Xmas party. My DD took the training wheels off right away and off he rode with maybe 25 min of pratice. He is only 3 1/2!!!!!

He still loves the Strider and was all over the place on that doing tricks. He can go really fast on it too.

Check out thier website at

I bought his at www.bitterbrushcycles.com
