Closet systems...

We don't really have room for a dresser in dd's room and now that she is getting bigger so are her clothes! So I was going to get some organizing stuff for her closet to kind of create a 'hanging dresser'. I really like what One Step Ahead has...but it seems kinda pricey to buy enough pieces to make a nice system!!! Does anyone else have something they like that didn't cost too much?

Rubbermaid has closet systems. Amazon has good prices on them but obviously shipping back is an issue if you don't like it.

I have 3 of them PACKED full of hanging clothes because especially in my older boys' room, they don't have dresser space for anything besides socks and underwear. Everything else is hanging on this thing. It is really sturdy. I have one in the twins' room too.

I've found htat I prefer when clothes are hanging because I can more easily see them. So, for the twins, pretty much everything besides onesies, socks and shoes are hanging on here. This thing has a lot of hanging space. It's easy to put together and take apart too.

Ikea also has some good, reasonably priced closet organization systems. They aren't so much designed specifically for kids, but they have a variety of sizes and configurations.

I will soon be converting our office into a nursery. I plan to install a Rubbermaid system similar to what sste posted. I'm going with the 3H88 (http://www.amazon.com/Rubbermaid-3H88-Configurations-Deluxe-Custom/dp/B000VSCA7C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1235622435&sr=1-1) and will probably buy some add-on accessories as well. I looked at the One Step Ahead, but didn't like it as much as the Rubbermaid. But I do like it. The Rubbermaid allows for infinite amounts of customization down the road.

When I first bought my house 6 years ago, I bought a couple of the huge Closetmaid Shelf Track systems (http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&productId=100026593&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=100026593&cm_mmc=shopping-_-google-_-D23X-_-100026593) from Lowe's/HD. Because our closets were smaller, I was able to split up the boxes and install one set across 2 closets. I may have added a rod to each one, but it was REALLY easy.

I LOVE that it can be reconfigured just by moving the shelves/rods around according to what our needs are. One roommate had it one way, we had it another way for holding wedding supplies, another way for a baby and all her gifts, and another way for all her outgrown clothes on their way to the consignment sale.

I did that in my son's room, and plan to do it in his new room, too. I got my stuff at Lowe's. It might have been the Rubbermaid brand, but I'm not sure.

Pretty much anything you see at One Step Ahead, you can find somewhere else cheaper and probably better made too..... just an FYI.

We had some soft sided shoe hanger things in the girls' closets and they didn't hold up very well. I bought them new from someone's garage sale and within a year or two, they were starting to tear. My girls' closets now have wire shelves from Target--some have cubes and some have shelves. They're not build in so I can rearrange between their closets and take them w/us if we move.

The rubbermaid -- which I think is the same thing as the Lowe's model - - can be taken down easily and transported. I believe its like Elfa, which I have, and the whole thing hangs off of one single upper track that you install (and easily uninstall).
