I apologize if there has been previous threads on this....I did search, but couldn't find one!

Besides the few pound weight difference, are there any other new features for 2009 that are worth the $200 more?

I do see that there is "new front wheel suspension for a smoother ride". We do a lot of walking, but is that just a clever marketing gimmick?

My only other concern is the car seat adapter working on the 2008 model. Has anyone tried one?

TIA!

Hi!

The front wheel suspension is introduced for 2009, versus having no suspension in 2008. The 2009 model will have a bit more "give" when the front wheel goes over bumps.

The 2009 model is a bit lighter than 2008.

The 2009 model has black polymer wheels, versus the metal wheels on 2008.

Other than that, the differences are all appearance.

A 2008 City Elite will be able to accommodate the current car seat adapter, since it will have the accessory mounting brackets on it. This was introduced in 2008 models.

So, any of the current accessories like child tray, bumper bar, or adapter bar -- they'd all fit the 2008 model too.

Hope that helps!

That is only true of the SINGLE. The Elite Double in 2008 DOES have front suspension. Kinda weird it wasn't on the 2008 single, but it was on the double. We just walked our kids in the 08 BJCED up to TJ's in the snow, and it definitely has bouncy suspension.

The thing they changed in the front was a different kind of bracket that holds the wheel. The 2008 was metal on metal, but the 2009 is a polymer contraption. I only know this because I had to get the frame on my 2008 replaced because it was making a scratching noise. The 2009 version is built differently in this one spot- plus the black polymer wheels. The actual weight on their website only appears to be 1 lb different.

I'd be willing to take a chance on the 2008 double for the screaming deals you can find right now, knowing that BJ may replace the frame if necessary. Not all of them made this noise.

The accessory brackets are the same, so you can put one carseat on the 2009. We aren't going to use one this summer because we found the seat recline to be awesome for our newborn last time around. I'm very happy with my 2008 BJCED.
