We are reaching the end (about 6 more stories to go) of our beloved Uncle Wiggly storybook. Any suggestions of good "Uncle Wiggly like" books? Basically a big book of short stories that have a moral and lead from one to the other.
When I asked DD what we were going to read when we were done with Uncle Wiggly she said, "I don't know..maybe we should just read it again." :)

Oh, how I loved Uncle Wigly as a child. Myd ad read me this storybook when I was little, and the pisky men was my favorite, made me laugh and laugh. Not sure if it was a funny story or if I just liked the work "pisky," but I LOVED this book. You've inspired me to go seek out a copy. Enjoy your last stories!

I don't have an answer to your question, but my sister and I used to love playing the Uncle Wiggly board game. I wonder if it still exists? I was hoping my dad still had ours so my kids could play it, but it seems to be gone.

Hmmm, maybe The Wind in the Willows? We recently had a beautiful edition from the library, but I can't seem to find it online now.

This is much shorter, but my girls love Mouse Soup (http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Mouse-Soup/Arnold-Lobel/e/9780064440417/?itm=1).

Just So Stories, by Rudyard Kipling also comes to mind.

Not sure how old your daughter is, but when I was teaching I would often read Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle to older 4 year olds. Generally, they LOVED her and would often go on to read additional books with their parents.

They have short, moralistic stories. I think the books would be good for a kid up to 6ish.

I STILL love the Piggle Wiggle book and can remember reading them through 5th grade, growing up. Just for a fun, quick read.

I've been trying to think the past few days of the other book that's been on my mind with regard to this post. I finally spotted it on DD's bookshelf tonight!

We have this one: Old Mother West Wind (http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Old-Mother-West-Wind/Thornton-W-Burgess/e/9780805072389/?itm=1) by Thornton W. Burgess

ETA: Another fan of Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle here!
