Brakes on Maclaren Quest?

I can't for the life of me figure out how to put the brake on my Quest (07). I don't get it.. I must be missing something!

The brakes go side to side. I think on 07 models they were linked, right? So you don't need to put them on separately, but just on one side, and the other side/wheel will be locked automatically. So find this little thing on top of the wheel and push it to the opposite side. It might be quite stiff when the stroller is new.
