I have the PB diaper bag which is just too small for my son's things when we do overnight trips or short vacations.

Any suggestions for a new bag?

What types of things do you need to pack in it? Is it something that will be carried with you each place you go?

On trips I try to put dc's things in with mine, and then bring a large, comfortable to carry bag to carry the all-day-out trips. My favorite for that is probably the Baby Sherpa Shorthaul (I like the Baby Sherpa as well) or the Healthy Back Baby Bag (One step ahead has a really nice version of it). Some others to look at would be the Lands End Do It All, the JuJuBe BeRightBack or Be Prepared.

Some of the moms get a duffle from LLBean that either coordinates with their own or is a different specific color (each family member gets their own color of items like duffels and toiletries). They last a long time, hold up great, and work for car or air travel.

The Ameribag Baby Bag (not the OSA gray one, slightly different style- this is the one that has been out for awhile) http://www.ebags.com/ameribag/healthy_back_baby_bag_in_distressed_nylon/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=92849&rlid=subcat_top&rcode=428335730185888
Also a Timbuk2 Messenger Bag is a good weekend diaper bag. T2s come in various sizes, can be customized (features and colors), are messenger style allowing you to still be reaching after a toddler, and are well liked.

We use a drawstring-top backpack from Target as our main diaper bag. It's blue so DH doesn't mind carrying it, and it has lots of pockets for stuff. Also, I got it on clearance in the accessory section after back-to-school sales, so it was less than $10!

We take the black diaper bag we got at the hospital for overnight trips when the regular diaper bag won't do.

So, don't feel trapped in the baby section when you're looking for a new bag!

My mom gave me a Vera Bradley bag (I think it was the Miller) when DD1 was born, so I have always used that as her overnight or weekend bag. Pretty big, it fits all her clothes, shoes, blankies, but usually not the diapers. And I like that it has lots of pockets to hold soaps, lotions, shampoos, comb, etc.

VB has a lot of stuff on clearance on the website right now, and you can usually find good deals on Ebay. I'm tempted to get another one to use for DD2, but I also have some extra large cute pink tote bags (from Avon I think) that I can use as well. Only bad thing is they snap at the top rather than zipper.
