Dishwasher and HE washer cleaners?

In the coupons I saw some specialty products for cleaning your dishwasher and HE washer. Is it worth it to buy these special products (assuming you just run them in an empty cycle) or would a little bleach in the washer work just as well (and maybe vinegar in the dishwasher?)

I used vinegar to clean my dishwasher and it worked ok. But if you really need to clean it, as in scrub with elbow grease, I think I need a real dishwasher cleaner. I bought, but have not yet tried, "Dishwasher Magic." I just got it yesterday. I can try it tonight and post back if it would be of help...

Thanks! LEt me know how it works for you. The dishwaher isn't super dirty or anything but I was thinking I should keep up with it.
