DS #1 is 3.75 and yesterday rode a bike with NO training wheels! He has a balance bike (the "wee") and rode it for a couple of weeks. Then we got him a 12" bike with training wheels (all the other kids in the neighborhood have one of these etc). Yesterday he borrowed a neighbor's bike with no training wheels and I got him started -- after 2 runs down the street he was on his own! He doesn't seem totally excited or interested in doing this a lot which is fine but I think it is totally cool!
We took the training wheels off his bike and he didn't like that -- he wanted them back on.
