They go to Catholic school and the teacher said it should have emphasis on the religious aspects, not coloring eggs, baskets, parades. I don't have a christian bookstore nearby. Does anyone know of any books offhand? It is for 4 yos. Thanks.

"My Easter Basket, and the true story of Easter" by Mary Marnz Simon tells the story of the resurrection by relating it to all the colors in the basket - green for the palms, purple for the wine, etc. I have seen it at Borders, etc. (it is a board book shaped like an Easter basket).

This one is my favorite, we read it to the kids each year. It is written from the point of view of a little boy named Benjamin. It is very well done, imo. If you get it, practice reading it through first, you can really impact the story further with simple voices, etc.

I love the Parable of the Lily...it's about being appreciative of what you have/get. It's a great book!

Benjamin's Box (http://www.amazon.com/Benjamins-Box-Melody-Carlson/dp/0310700442), especially when paired with Resurrection Eggs (http://www.amazon.com/Resurrection-Eggs-Parenting-Familylife-Publishing/dp/1572293241/ref=pd_sim_b_1). It's a great story about a boy named Benjamin, who follows Jesus during Holy Week. He picks up "souveniers" of things that happened that week, and puts them in a box his grandfather gave him. Great story on it's own, but even more powerful when you open each egg while reading the story. The eggs contain the things Benjamin picked up. DC each received this from their 4 yo Christian preschool.

I'm pretty sure I've seen both items at Borders or B&N. The book itself might be at your library.
