I am super-fair and DD takes after me. We *both* need rash guards. She's 1 year old and I'm a size 18 -- any advice on the best place to shop?

There are tons of places and sites that sell rash guards! B&M stores would be Target, Old Navy, Gymboree, Lands End for kids. I believe Lands end also sells them for Adults.

Here are some sites

My DH and older DS didn't like the normal tight fit of rashguards and we found the O'Neill brand makes a looser fit shirt that they loved. They make them for ladies now too.. I am considering one of these this year!

My favorite ones for DD are from Target - seriously! After spending tons a couple years ago, they're by far the ones that fit the nicest AND have nice bottoms (the one I got her this year has boy shorts). The shirts are nice and roomy with decent sleeves and they're UPF 50.

I have a post "upstairs" for a rashguard suit for DS because I don't want 2 pieces to worry about. I'm fairly certain I'm going with the Hanna Andersson one.

I have no idea for adults. I don't generally go in the water and stay mostly fully clothed. ;)

My kids have been enjoying their long-sleeved LE ones all week. Very nice seams that don't seem like they'll be unraveling.

I thought land's end's rash guards for boys are very cute. Did not check out the girls, but they do have misses sizes, and I think Women's sizes too. Good luck!

I just was noticing in my newest LE catalog that they have rash guards for Momma's too! It caught my eye because my tan, tends to be red in the summer!!!

another vote for LE. the whole family wears them here. i found i had to go down one size tho for me since i like them on the fitted side. in my swim suit size, it was pretty baggy - more like wearing my DH's tshirt than a fitted women's shirt if that makes sense? where as for SH, i had to size up since he does not like anything fitted and has a big head which can make getting pull over shirts on a bit difficult. DH and max are wearing true to size.

I'm the same size as you and it seems that this year it's FINALLY easier to find a rash guard over a size large! I would certainly try lands end.... BUT i'm thinking of ordering this one cause it's so stylish and comes up to a 2x which i would probably need....i saw it in the Athleta catalog.

I've never worn one of these - are they hot? Could they be used for outdoor sports such as running & cycling?

Update!

I ended up gettings Lands End for the baby. For whatever reason there are LOTS more options for boys than girls for rash guards, so I got her a boy outfit.

I am still searching for the elusive rash guard for plus-size women. Tried on the size 18-20 Lands End and it hugged my curves too much. But I do think if you carry your weight in your hips instead of tummy/breasts it would be more comfortable.

I ordered a short sleeved LE rash guard in 2X, but returned it b/c the arms didn't come down low enough. It had more of a cap sleeve.

I'll probably just get a men's XL or XXL at Target.

Just wondering if anyone can answer my questions - pretty please...
