Hi, I am planning to register for the Medela InStyle Pump and need advice on what other Medela items I should get. I have no clue. I have my own private office that I can lock myself in. I also have a microwave in my office. I have a private bathroom across the hall from my office as well. Maybe this information can help you with suggestions on what else I should be registering for. I have attached a link to the Babies R Us site with all the Medela items:

I would add quick-clean-micro-steam-bags (http://www.medelabreastfeedingus.com/products/cleaning/185/quick-clean-micro-steam-bags), pump-and-save-bags (http://www.medelabreastfeedingus.com/products/breastmilk-collection/398/pump-and-save-bags---50-pack), feeding bottles (http://www.medelabreastfeedingus.com/products/breastmilk-collection]breastmilk-collection/342/80ml-breastmilk-freezing-and-storage[/URL][URL="http://www.medelabreastfeedingus.com/products/breastmilk-collection/471/breastmilk-bottle---6-pack).

I like the lansinoh bags more than the medela ones since they freeze flat.
I really like having an extra set of bottles, they came in a package of 6 - makes for less washing. I have the steam bags, but haven't used them very often since you have to clean them first.
I also have a car adaptor which I use to pump in the car while DH drives or if I forget the AC adaptor.
Good luck!

I had their two different sized bottles (I think six or more), three sets of the shields, connectors and valves so I didn't have to wash as often, the micro-steam bags, and a nursing shield. Eventhough you have your own office for pumping, it still might be nice to have something to throw over yourself...they sell some pretty nice covers at target now. You'll also need a cooler of some kind to transport the milk and keep it cold while at work.

madela has a really nice website too that was really helpful to me when I started pumping and BF.......http://www.medelabreastfeedingus.com/

With the backpack version, there is a cooler pack to hold 4 small bottles.

love the steam bags if you have microwave access, could've used a second set of everything, so the accessory pack, feeding straight from the bottles would be heavenly. Seems like we needed more rings/nipples which were not sold at BRU, but through Medela, I guess.

A friend used this method for milk storage and loved it - http://greenlitebites.com/BreastMilk/

I think the thing I like the most is an extra set of horns and valve assembly. Also, sometimes different women require different sized horns.

It's also a good idea to have some extra tubes around.

You can get Medela parts and accessories ala carte at many independent baby/maternity shops that rent pumps or are geared towards breastfeeding support.

:yeahthat:

The most helpful thing for me last time was to have two sets of everything to cut down on the number of times I had to do up the washing. And this time I am pumping more frequently and am thinking of going up to three sets.

I'll also echo a PP that I love being able to pump right into the feeding bottles sometimes. Where you get the connectors from depends on the bottle type you have. I have Born Free and they sell the connectors on their own website.

I might wait to open all the packages, though, until you know for sure what your needs are going to be IRL. As I am discovering right now, BF doesn't always go as planned! GL!

So, should I add this to my registry:

http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2409076

It's the Medela Accessory set. It includes: Includes 2 Breastshields, 2 packages of Quick Clean MicroSteam Bags, 4 Bottles & Lids, 2 Valves & Membranes

I'll certainly get the Pump and Save bags as well, but help me here. If you click on the link above, you'll see a picture of the accessory set. I swear the plastic bags they have in the picture are the Pump and Save bags but the description isn't including that, unless I misunderstood.

Thanks everyone!

It does look like the pump and save bags in that photo. Unless they have redesigned them in the last 3 years, though, I would go with someone else's brand. I found the Medela ones really awkward to use last time. I have tried them all and IMO the Lansinoh ones the best:

But everyone will have their own thoughts on this.
