I was thinking of getting my mother a set. She was asking me about mine and walks to the grocery store a few times a week for groceries so I think they'd be useful. I liked this set:

because I like the bag that keeps the food cool but don't know if I want to spend $50. Anyone have a set that they like or that would make a nice mother's day gift?

TIA!

Those are pretty fancy! I love love love the Envirosax bags, you can get them at delight.com (which is a site I also love!), they are not the insulated kind but they're really cute, durable, large & have nice long handles for over your shoulder or if you like to tie handles in the trunk so the groceries don't go everywhere. 5 bags for $37.95.

They don't have produce bags but I bought some mesh ones from etsy, I think they were $7 for a set of 3.

If you don't want to spend $50, you should be able to put together a gift set for much less. I just bought a really bright spring/lime green insulated bag at Ikea for around $5. Trader Joe's also has some brightly colored insulated bags for under $5 as well. I keep several of these bags (http://baggubag.com/2008/#Shop) in my car / diaper bag for shopping. They are colorful, bright, compact and have held up well. I also sent an assortment to my sister as a gift. She loves the bright colors!

If she's walking, does she carry them on her shoulder or in her hands? I have the Baggu bags (got as a wedding favor!-one for each member of our family) and I find them useful in the stroller, diaper bag, car or whatever. I don't think they are great for heavy stuff like groceries as they tend to slide off my shoulder. Could just be my shape, though.

If I were walking, I'd want something ultra-comfy on my shoulder.

Thanks everyone! She does carry them on her shoulder. I'll check out these links and see what I can put together.

Also check out www.reusablebags.com (http://www.reusablebags.com).

I got mine from them: http://www.reusablebags.com/store/acme-bags%E2%84%A2-earthtote%E2%84%A2-reusable-shopping-p-10.html.

But I don't think mine would be great for your mom since it's not super shoulder friendly. But they have a ton of great bags, as well as sets. :) And you usually can find a coupon code for a few bucks off or free ship or something.

What a neat gift idea! We did simple canvas totes with a one trip grip for grocery bags for the grandmas at Christmas. They loved it. I love the idea of a set of bags though, maybe mothers day.

I use two LL Bean Boat and Totes from the Outlet store. They are great. We use XL so everything fits in two bags with "long" handles. You might want to try medium or large.

I would also recommend that you get at least a couple of bags that fold up small and be kept in her purse. That way she will always have 1 or 2 with her. I keep 2 Envirosax in my purse all the time.
