I really like the look of the picklebottom backpack, but can't justify spending that much on a diaper bag (even on sale). Does anyone know of a backpack style diaper bag that also has a shoulder strap for when you don't want to carry it on your back?

If you own a picklebottom backpack do you like it? Was is worth the money? Does it have enough pockets on the inside?

I've never tried the PPB bag, but I do have a JuJuBe Packabe that I like. You can wear it backpack style, or the strap converts with a quick pull to wear it on your shoulder. You can also hook the straps onto D-rings on the side to use it as a messenger style bag, and if you are going to wear it mostly backpack mode they sell padded backpack straps separately (though the original straps with the bag don't bother me at all and I've worn it fully packed for park walks over my mei tai with no problems).

There are two mommy pockets on the front to store your wallet and essentials or to hold a soft pack of wipes and dipes. Two exterior insulated bottle pockets, memory foam change pad that slips in an exterior back pocket (and provides padding while wearing it on your back). Inside there are several pockets, two of which are large enough to fit dipes and wipes box.

I've been using this as my all-day outting bag or when I need to pack my mei tai to take with. I can fit spare clothes, dipes and wipes for a toddler and infant, mei tai, burp cloth, receiving blanket, and other essentials. And if its not packed full it looks OK too.

I actually have two of these and need to sell my Sporty Stripes one, am looking for $60 shipped. PM me w/ your email if your interested and I can send pics!

I love the PPB boxy backpack myself, but if you read some of the other recent posts on the topic, you'll get a sense of what others don't like about it. As for the cost, I periodically see them at TJ Maxx for $49.99 - at that price I'd say it's 100% worth it.

I had/have a Picklebottom knock-off given to me as a gift which I loved. Backback with shoulder strap convertor option, beautiful Asian silk look. I don't think it cost more than $40. I'll try and find it and link to it when I do - I got LOADS of compliments on it, and it stayed in perfect shape after 2 yrs of use.

Fanci-Free Kim Convertible (very boxy, nylon fabric so easy to clean, and comfortable to wear either backpack or messenger, has stroller straps too- I got chocolate as the prints seem very bright)

Posh Ultimate- Haven't seen many reviews of this, except that it is big. I would love to know if it is comfortable and what kind of materials and how crazy are the prints. Beuler, lol?

JJB Packabe- Great style, organization and prints. Very boxy also, pretty heavy empty, as expensive as the PPB. Lots of matching accessories also available.

I am sure I am missing a bunch, but that should be the main options. :)

I love my Ju-Ju-Be PackaBe. The PPB are pretty, but they are not water resistant and can snag pretty easily. (my sister had one) The PackaBe has great pockets as well to keep things organized.

How can you tell if it's a knock-off? Thanks!

Unless they have changed dramatically since I bought one, you might as well carry a plastic grocery bag. It'd do a better job of holding all your baby things:

I just got a Matt and Nat diaper bag at Winner's (Canadian TJ Maxx) which I am planning to actually use for my computer/work stuff since it's very un-diaper-like and has enough room to carry all that; it's over the shoulder or handstrap. But, I digress. They also had backpack-style ones, slightly smaller, but the same very nice durable outside (made from backpack like material) with lots of pockets, expandable zipper sections, and a nice lining. The reason I got it is that it seemed really well-made and sturdy, although it is a bit spendy if you don't get it on sale or at a discount store.

The Jessica Bumblebag was my first diaper bag and I loved it. It converts easily from a backpack to messenger/shoulder style. It's fairly lightweight and I think the patterns are beautiful (I have the Blue Latte).
