We bought a pressure mounted one for the top of the stairs, but now thinking maybe that wasnt the best choice for when baby gets a little stronger.
Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance!

Pressure mounted gates are not good for the top of stairs...get something more secure that screws into the wall. We have this one http://www.amazon.com/Evenflo-Top-of-Stair-Gate/dp/B00004YMZE. It has been up for years and has withstood much abuse. Put the pressure mounted one at the bottom of the stairs.

We have this same one. It is great. We use pressure-mounted between rooms and at the bottom of the stairs. We bought it from BRUs.

we have the same one too. we had to do some adjusting b/c we're renting our house and didn't want to drill into the banister. DD is 3 1/2 and can't open the gate. DS is almost 2 yrs. and when he wants to go down the stairs, or comes out of his room, he's pulling on the bottom part of the gate and standing on it and shaking it. We've had for 2 months now, and it's really sturdy and secure.

We bought the Kidco Safeway gate. It's expensive but is metal and super, super strong. It mounts into the wall and swings open.

yeah, you want a gate at the top of the stairs that is secured to the wall somehow, so if your DC trips or starts putting weight against the gate ....it won't budge.....
We have the same gate as PP mentioned.....very sturdy...DD walks up to it now, graps a bar in each hand and shakes it....it does not move.......you can stain/paint it too, which is nice......I stained ours to match the wood railing......
I bought our at Lowes.
Put the pressure mounted ones where it wouldn't be a danger if the gate gave way.....bottom of stairs, doorway.....
