Seriously, I have switched to vinegar, baking soda and castile soap, but my husband is arguing that only someone on drugs or with serious mental disease could have come up with the rantings on the Dr. Bronner bottle. Thinks we can't trust it....
Does anyone get this bottle?

LMAO. It's on the bar soap we get, too.

No, he probably was a pothead or maybe acid ;), that stuff has been around at least since the 70s.

Updated* Earlier than that, here's a historical link http://www.drbronner.com/timeline.html

I think I remember reading that they've left all that stuff on the labels as a tribute to him.

Dr. Bronner is dead. His company is run by his grandkids. They leave the odd labels intact, much as they have been for nearly 60 years. I don't believe his rants were fueled by drugs, but by zealous belief in a variety of issues about saving the earth and world peace. I think he was a zealot and carried a lot of sadness to boot.

Lol, I definitely agree that the Dr. B's bottles are um, "interesting" to read. I always just assumed he was a crazy old man, so his children thought it would be funny to put his weird rantings on the bottles.

About a year ago the movie "Dr Bronner's Magic Soapbox" came out and enjoyed a pretty long run at indy movie theaters here in WI, as this is where his son Ralph lives. Here's some info on Emmanuel Bronner's sad life and mental issues as well as how the business survived/thirives and a trailer to the movie.

If you are intense by nature, then lose your family in the Holocost, then are subjected to electro-shock therapy, you might get the idea that the world having one uniting religious philosophy might make 'spaceship earth' a better, kinder place. Was he a bit of a nut?- oh yes, but just because you're a nut doesn't mean you might not be right about a few things :)

I had the pleasure of listening to an interview with Ralph Bronner on our local NPR station when the movie was playing in Milwaukee, so that's why I know so much about this. Just in case anyone is wondering about *my* mental health! - But I do love the soap!
