MIL bought two web cams - one for her, the other for us.

Recommendation on how to connect the two? What program, online site?

Thanks!

we've used skype with our logitech web cams. it's fun, but it was a little frustrating to get set up a couple times. I guess the hardest part is that my mom finally sits down and wants to see the kids when she sits down at the end of the day to watch tv- at 8 pm, when the DC are fast asleep...

We use Gmail video chat. Works great.

We use Skype too. The first few times, we had a lot of connection issues (no sound, freezing, program errors) that would require restarting the calls. But lately there have been no issues, we had a 45 minute long call without any problems.

We use Windows Live Messenger. My in-laws and us can talk fine.
But we've found my parents (on Roadrunner) have to call us or it doesn't work.

It doens't work over dialup, or on most hotel Internet lines (so probably not on free wifis like Starbucks, etc) It requires a lot of throughput to work.

We've used Skype for 3.5 years now. Video and sound quality has improved dramatically over this time. It is very easy to set up.

Should have included this in the last post...Here's a link to more information about gmail's video chat & set up. (http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=100173)

We use Skype, too. It was pretty easy for my totally un-tech-savvy MIL to figure out. We've had a few connection issues/dropped calls with it, but not too bad. Other than that, it's worked really well.
