I've seen these at the library and different playgroups, but can't figure out how to find one online. It's a huge wooden structure, in the shape of a barn or a house, but is completely plain. Some of them have walls between rooms, some are just big open barns. No paint, no accents (shutters, etc.). They're at least a foot tall and are meant to be used on the floor.

Can you help me find something like this?

ETA: My husband says he will build one, so now I just need to find a good photo. Or maybe I should just send him to the library, LOL!

I've been looking for something like this too. That barn (http://www.novanatural.com/s.nl/it.A/id.2351/.f?sc=16&category=21418) is adorable but $160? Gulp. I also like this one (http://www.lakeshorelearning.com/seo/ca%7CsearchResults%7E%7Ep%7CEE212%7E%7E.jsp) from Lakeshore Learning that my DD's preschool has - more affordable at half the price ($80), and also wooden. I wish my DH or I were more craftsy and could build something like this but alas, that is not the case. DD will just have to imagine a barn for the time being...

Thanks! Those all look great! One definitely looks like the one at one of the local libraries.

I remember that I'd taken a picture of a barn at my town's library a few months ago on my phone. I just uploaded it:

DOes Breyer sell the wooden barn like the one pictured above? I've seen it at a localish toystore (might be there this weekend, I will check it out...) I think. I also remember a few years back Sam's Club (saw on a trip with the ILS I think?) carried something like that, but maybe larger. Not sure of the manufacturer, so that doesn't help.

Kinderkram, Ostheimer, etc. carry plain wooden simple structures, but they aren't cheap. However, you could definitely build one if you had the time/inclination.

eta: here's one ($114 though, but there's a run in shed for horses that is $40ish listed underneath)

M&D Folding stable: ($100ish)

Maxim Groton stable:

I didn't check around for pricing. I"m familiar w/ the Brick and Mortar Toys and CO. store so I went to their site as I remember seeing a few plain wooden barns in their stores before. DD is a horse *nut* so I see these in our future. I still have my Breyer horses from childhood. Right now she plays w/ the Playmobil horse trailer set, horse, and rider we have.

eta: small sized stable (for the Breyer stablemates)

Lots of listings here (some are repeats of the above, some are not)

COol :) That price doesn't seem bad w/ free shipping :)
I grew up saving my allowance for Breyer horses as a kid, particularly when we'd go on vacation to Chicoteague, VA (where they have wild horses in neighboring Asateague). They catered to young horse freaks, so there were Breyer horses in every little shop in town. It was great fun to shop there as a kid :love-retry:

That's a great deal! Hmm, I'm tempted now (I noticed they have 6 pieces so enough for all of us!). Maybe I should send this link to MIL who was asking about DD's b'day present. ;)

Just a forewarning...

those Breyer horses eventually translated into a real horse for me as I got older LOL. So beware of feeding the passion of those horsey loving kids ;)

(I'm hoping to buy/lease a horse for the kids (and me LOL) down the road one day. So I'm all for encouraging DD's current horse love :love-retry: ) DH grew up riding and owning a horse as well.

I grew up around horses, though I myself was terrified of them if they weren't in a stall or tied. My sister now owns two horses and we're going to visit in a few weeks -- this will be the first time I see the horses! I wonder how my son will react. He asked if there will be cows, too. LOL!
