Does your toilet paper roll from the top or bottom or whatever?

I always install the toilet paper to roll from the top.

From the bottom, but apparently according to playboy raw data one month, most people roll from the top. I think it said like 80%.

The top. Can't stand having it the other way for some reason.

Always from the top. It annoys me when it's the other way around!

DHs grandfather always put the rolls on so it spooled from the bottom. Like the second or third time I visited his grandparents I put a new roll of TP on instinctively so it was top rolling. DH's grandmother pulled me aside a couple hours later and explained they don't do it that way. :rolleye0014: I at least felt better when my MIL later said she always put the rolls on top spooling just out of spite for her Dad's strong preference.

After a quick check of the bathrooms, I evidently put the paper on to pull from the top. And I know that I did this, because nobody else in the house can seem to figure out the complicated mechanics of a TP roll holder. :rolleye0014:

It has to be from the top. I'm sure there must be some law of physics that dictates this.

From the top, definitely. It drives me nuts any other way. I'm always tempted to switch it if I'm at a friend or relatives house and it's from the bottom. I actually will switch it if I'm staying at someone's house and going to be using that bathroom more than a time or two!

i do mine from the top. why? bc i noticed that hotels do it from the top so they can fold the pretty liitle triangle. also, i feel like it's easier to find the beginning if it hangs a little further from the wall.

Corie, why don't you ask your handyman how he prefers it and do it that way? then you at least know you've made one person happy. :ROTFLMAO:

from the top but only because DH likes it that way. I hate it that way but it's a battle I won't fight for as batty as it drives me, LOL!

Growing up, my mom always had it roll from the bottom but I never liked it that way. After leaving their house, I always, always have had it roll from the top. Now when she visits me, she'll put a new roll back on with it rolling from the bottom (I think just out of habit) but I'll immediatley switch it to rolling from the top. It is MY house afterall. :) Fortunately, DH feels the same way as me.

From the top, which is how I finally trained DH to do it after years and years of marriage. (That is, when he deigns to change it himself instead of leaving it on the bathtub next to the toilet!)

A highschool teacher for some class I can't remember informed us it was more sanitary that way. I don't know if it's true or not, but that's my motivation!

From the top. I agree that it seems more sanitary. I tend to only touch what I use.

From the top.

When I was a RA in college, I actually had two female residents who wanted to get new roommates b/c they disagreed over the top vs. bottom TP issue... I can't believe I had to play peacekeeper for a petty issue like that.

me too. my dad insists on doing it the other way (from the bottom) and i think that it is harder to use it like that.

Bottom. It's easier to tear off that way without sending the roll spinning all over again.

This has always been a HUGE debate in my family. I was raised in a bottom of the roll family. When I got married I continued to do that until one day my DH did it the other way. And it worked better. Being the scientific sort, I investigated this tissue issue and discovered that which way is better really depends on where the dispenser is located. At my parents' house (which had only 1 bathroom), if you have it coming from the top, the roll will just spill all over the place. There's no easy way to flick it and tear. Since then, I've found that most of the ones in my home (4 in this one) work better coming from the top.

Having said that, when my parents visit, eventually all of them end up coming from the bottom. I think it's my mom's way of reminding me of home...or a passive agressive way of reminding me who is really the boss.

From the top. Except in the powder room. That one comes from the side since the toilet holder looks something like this (http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&productId=100089502&N=10000003+90043+500416). It makes it sooo easy to change the roll.

That tissue holder looks nifty! We're going to get a new toilet paper holder in our bathroom soon - ours is old and fallng out of the wall - :bag

but $71 for a toilet paper holder? Holy Moly! That's the kind of holder you find in "Cribs" :)

The top. Absolutely. If DH happens to put a roll on upside down, I turn it over immediately.

Oh, I didn't spend $71 for mine! I just looked around for one that could be put on the wall in the same position.

Yeah. Bottom. Too easy for ds to empty the roll if it is coming off the top.
