Topical agent to heal/fade an abrasion?

My son (2) took a tumble before Easter and ended up with superficial abrasion near his eye and a huge shiner. Fast forward 3 weeks, and the bruising has gone, but the abrasion is still there. It is fully healed, smooth skin, but is red/pink and not fading, about the size of a nickel. Anything I can put on it to help it fade? TIA.

I don't think you should worry too much. A friend of mine has a son who had a scar on his face when he was younger and as he got older it faded more and actually moved as his skin stretched and his face got bigger.

Vitamin E? Cocoa butter? Mederma? I would use any of those on myself to prevent scarring, but I'm dark-skinned. Honestly, I think the best thing to do for a healing spot like that is to use sunscreen.
