I'd like to hear your methods for warming breast milk. I'm going to be using drop in bags (Medela and/or Playtex) and would like to know how to warm frozen and defrosted breast milk. Should I get some kind of electric bottle warmer or are there other cost-effective ways of doing this? Thank you!

I use a cup of warm water from the tap. My DCP uses a crock pot that is always turned on and ready which I thought was rather clever, but I think you'd have to have a few more kids taking bottles regularly for it to be a practical idea :tongue5:

We also do a cup of warm water. Works great.

I heat a coffee mug of water in the microwave for about 30 seconds and then let the bag/bottle sit in the water.

eta: it would take me just as long to get warm water out of the tap.

This is what I did only I used a Pyrex measuring cup. :)

Thanks ladies...this was a lot of help. I'll save money and space now and not get that electric bottle warmer.

I use a cup of warm water from the tap...just like they did in the NICU. I try not to get the milk too warm though, I want her to be able to drink things at room temp just for ease. :)

I am really lazy. We defrosted in the refrig. I then just left it out on the counter for 15 or 20 minutes. This is the only way we ever did it so DS never knew better and was always fine with this.

Run or keep in hot water! Never takes very long. Or, if you remember, leave it in the refrigerator overnight.
