This made me smile - and made me resolve to start doing art *with* my DD rather than setting her up to do art. Awesome interview. I :heartbeat: Mo!

We've recently discovered his books and really enjoy them! Great article. :)

We love his books...

But my problem with what he is saying is that if I sit down and draw with my girls, they decide theirs isn't "good" and then they just tell me to draw things instead of doing it themselves. Because mine resemble something and theirs are just scribbles... So I have to let them do it alone.

I love him and his books. Knuffle Bunny was one of DD's first favorites!

My DH said exactly the same thing! I think this may be more relevant as they get older.

Great story, my husband and I both liked listening to it.

We always take "draw me a ...." requests as a chance to either show T how to draw something or ask him how to do it himself. I might say to him "what is the first thing you would put down for a giraffe?" or "what is the main thing about a car?" We did this from when he was very small rather than drawing what he wanted. Sometimes we would have him do his and we would add on or vice versa.

I can't even begin to fathom how often I've read the pigeon books... love them.

Thanks for sharing!

DH and I have been working toward doing a family "art night" (I think Soulemama talks about this on her blog). We're trying to integrate that into our evenings along w/ game nights, etc. This is great inspriation, because I don't always participate (but I dabble in a lot of crafty stuff...but I don't *draw* or paint, etc. much at all anymore).

Thanks for the inspiration!

I just checked out Mo's blog (linked from the NPR site) - I want a chalkboard dining room wall too!
