corn syrup in formula

ds is taking nutramigen formula which contains corn syrup as a carbohydrate source. found this info at the link below. the chart i'm referring to is about 1/2 way down the page.

should i be concerned? it is my impression that corn syrup or high fructose corn syrup are both evil, lol. we have ds's 4 week appt. on monday and could get a prescription for alimentum in place of the nutramigen.

any advice/opinions appreciated. tia.

They use SUGAR and Corn Maltodextrin .... a corn syrup solid, filler, I think. I don't know if you can get away from that stuff with formula unfortunetly unless you go with organic like this

Is your little one having allergies? Why did your ped suggest the hypoallergenic formula? Don't know if you've been on the Dr Sears site but it has some interesting info on formulas ... I found it helpful when choosing a formula for my kiddo.

I wouldn't worry about corn syrup as much as high fructose corn syrup. The mercury study was never done on corn syrup - if you look up the actual study. I know news channels tend to sensationalize, though.

Anyway, we use Allimentum ready-to-feed b/c DS had an allergic response to the corn in the powdered version of Allimentum. It's more expensive, but really the only formula he can take with his allergies. I wish there were more options for babies with true milk and soy allergies, but there aren't.

DS is doing fantastic on his formula. He's surpassing all milestones and is super smart, super healthy! Without formula, I suppose I wouldn't have been able to have children since I'm not allowed to breastfeed due to harmful medications I have to be on (we adopted). So on this Mother's Day, I am thanking the formula companies!!!
