Ok, you BTDT moms, would you buy a sand and water table for your kids, or just a sand table? DCs are 2 1/2 and 1 1/2. I'm leaning toward just sand, but don't want to miss out on the water fun too.

The feedback I've heard from some is to get separate tables because the combos end up turning into a huge gloopy mess. That said, I'm seeing the FP sand and water table, where the water table folds over the sand table to close and it looks pretty good to me.

I've only seen sand/water tables that end up a mess as the sand gets dumped in the water side. We went with a water only table and the boys have fun with it!

Yes, the combination tables are a mess, BUT the kids have so much fun. We have this one:

I got one of each, and that works great.

We went with a water only table and a huge sandbox.

Ok, I'm thinking separate too. Anyone have the Step 2 Naturally Playful sand table?

we have a water table - and DS (4.5) could play in that every day!
when he was younger he'd climb on it to splash! -
most of the time he ends up getting completely wet - and enjoying every moment of it!

We have that. DD loves it but we only use it solely as water table. She has a separate sand box. Enjoys equally both!

We have a combo and it does get messy--but they enjoy it so much! If I'm not in the mood to clean up, I put either just water or just sand. The kids have fun no matter what--I don't think you could go wrong!

We have a separate sandbox (Naturally Playful...4 years and running and we've been very happy with it). I just pull out dishpans or a big underbed storage box and fill that with water, cups, etc. for the kids on a hot day. I'd probably buy a water table if I could find a good used one, but we haven't missed it that much.

I have a friend who used aquarium gravel in her sand and water table.

I was thinking about getting a combo table and filling it with water OR sand, but not both at once. Not sure why, but at the time it seemed like a good idea.

I have it and love it. DD has played with combos but loves to just play with the sand. I think the combos have too much going on sometimes.

She played with it for 4 hrs the other day with just some dixie cups and her dolls. DD is 2.5.

The sand table isnt very deep but holds 1 bag of sand. It has a cover which is great. I added a little water to one side to make the sand moldable.

I also have a water table but the weather has to be right for that. Sand she can play with even when it is too cool for water.

We have the same table, and DD has so much fun with the sand and water together. I enjoy sitting at the table with her and playing- it's about as close to being at the beach as I can get in KS. LOL!

We have that one too and it's still going strong six years after we bought it. We use it only for water

We have one like it, but only use water. It is less messy and seems to be lots of fun!!!

We have a regular sand box. We also have 2 under bed storage boxes that sit on a bench we happened to have that was the right height. I put water in one and dry rice and beans in the other. It has worked for us!

I am in the market for one of these numbers as well. Are sand/water tables more appealing simply because they are elevated?
