Hi again!

Thanks for the great ideas & postings of your kids' DADDY pictures! I bought some letters last night & plan to do this with my daughter soon, to be ready for Father's Day way ahead of time. I looked at Joann's for a 5-part frame (horizontal), but could only find 4-section ones, or others with lots of little spaces in a vertical orientation. Since it's hard to hop between stores with a baby, can you tell me where you got your frame with 5 openings for the pics? I'm thinking Michael's; Pier 1; Bed, Bath, & Beyond; or otherwise Target or Wal-mart, but I'd like to make one stop, buy it, and use a coupon if at all possible (I have one for Michael's and B, B, & B).

TIA!

Do you have Photoshop Elements or another program? I took mine and made an 8x10 photo of them. I have a picture of DH on top and DADDY below.

Would this be difficult for a newbie to do?

If you have Photoshop Elements, it's mostly a matter of understanding how layers work. You start with all the photos in different layers and make layers for the background and frame colors and then I start chopping holes in the top layers (the colors) so that the photos show through. So, my top layer is the background color with the oval and rectangle cut out. Next is the frame color with another oval and 5 rectangles cut out. Then the photos are last and they just show through the holes.

It's not intuitive, at least not for me, but it's not bad to play with and get it working. I'd start now and not a week before you need it.

And, once you learn it, you can do fun Christmas cards, birthday invites, etc. I make all those myself and it takes very little time these days. Not that I have DS1's actually done for his birthday 2 weeks ago, but once I start, it'll only take 20 minutes to get it done.

Linens n Things always had them, so I'd check Bed Bath and Beyond.

I got mine at Ikea last year, but I ended up running out of time to do the pics. They still have the frames in white, black, silver, natural finish and brown.

We got ours from Linens N Things - Bed Bath and Beyond has the same one. This is it. http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&SKU=12874278 I turned it horizontally and took vertical pictures.

Christmas Tree Shops have them too if you have those stores in your area. They have them in black.

This is a great idea and reminds me that you can also do something like this with shutterfly studio, which you can download for free from shutterfly. They call it a "collage" and all you have to do is pick the layout and then drag the photos into the spaces. Super-easy. Thanks for the reminder, as I have been wanting to do something like this and also seem to have the curse of not being able to find a 5-space frame (at the 1 store I can get to).
