Has anyone made their own Mei Tai?

Just wondering how difficult this would be...

If you made your own, what type of material did you use?

I've made several. Make sure you have a strong enough fabric for the body and straps (twill, denim etc.) You can add a decorative fabric to the body, but make sure there is a strong layer in there as well.

It usually takes me about 2 hours to complete one.

I have made a few too. Some turned out better than others. One miss was using recycled denim that was thick for the straps cut too wide that make them hard to tie.

If you're comfortable sewing and trust in your skills, I guess you could do it, but I wouldn't do it myself just b/c I'm terrified that it'll rip while DD is in it and she'll fall out from behind me.
