We are moving into a rental house with a koi pond in the back. We would like to fill it given the possible danger to the kids and the owner is ok with this. Given its a rental, we want to do something they can pretty easily reverse when we move out. I was hoping we could turn it into a sand box, but to if we fill the whole thing with sand, I'm afraid that will mess up the pump and it will be hard to dig out.
My thought was to rig a wooden box or something that could go over the hole and be filled with sand. Does anyone have any experience with doing something like this or other suggestions for babyproofing a pond?
