How can I get my EBF five month old to poop? It's been DAYS and I'm really scared of the imminent blowout:eek:

Talk to your ped, but I recall this happening with DS1 and it was normal.

My ped also said it was normal but I started putting a tiny (really tiny) amount of prune juice in one bottle a day and it really did help.

Ped told me to use a bit of apple juice in a bottle...worked as well....
If you're working on baby food....try plum, prune, sp, pears....pretty much anything with a P....and stay away from bananas and rice cereal....

I'll attest that pears work r-e-a-l-l-y well...as did homemade zucchini for my DD. GL!!!

Try putting her in a warm, pretty deep (like chest high) bath, and rub her belly. Be prepared for poop in the tub.

DD is going on day 3, but she's a bit older and eating some solids. I remember when DS was that age and EBF, he went 5 days, I brought him to the ped, and he pooped right before I opened his diaper for the ped. Totally normal if you're EBFing b/c they process it so efficiently, there is little waste.

DD, on the other hand, has been shooting little pellets for the past 3 days. I may try the warm bath/tummy rub thing tomorrow.
