B-Day ideas needed for a 12 yo Boy

I am looking for birthday gift ideas for a 12 yo boy - preferably something fun and educational. Looking to spend no more than about $20 - $30.

I just played scattergories with the 11 year old I nanny for and it was a great hit. What are his interests? Sports? Music? Games? You could always get something for outside this summer, fun but not really educational. I also got the boy I watch 2009 guiness book of world records. He loved it.

Thanks for your suggestions. I have already given him the 2009 World Record book for Christmas this past year. He does very much enjoy games and pretty much anything outdoors. More suggestions would be great!!!
