Anyone have a cool site with lots of pictures of hair cuts? I am nervous getting any length cut off, so I really want to find a good picture to take with me. I know there have been threads about this in the past, but I can't seem to find any of them. I am looking for a long layered, wavy curly kind of cut. Maybe I don't actually know what I am looking for....

Ok, I went the cautious way out and got long layers. I decided to go ahead and let her style it and the curls look really good. I just hope I can recreate it. I'm glad the haircut is over and I can go another year without one!

I have used this website a lot when searching for a new style to mimic. Most of the gallery photos have a "how to get this style" description that I find helpful.
Here is the link for long, curly hair styles:

Oh well maybe I don't want long. I mean, basically I am totally indecisive but I am totally scared to go short. Do you have a pic of your new cut?!

Nicole, thank you! I will check that out. I found like a bunch last night that I liked, but then I accidentally closed the window and lost them all.

I am glad someone posted a link ... very helpful.

thanks for starting this thread. I already had a cut scheduled for tomorrow so I used the link above to find a new haircut. I am going to go short and go with this one:

Yep, I hear ya. I have had one professional cut in the last two and a half years. And it was about 9 months ago, and pretty much just a trim. I have basically been trying to recover from a scary bad cut right after the girls were born that scarred me for life.
I don't want to sound like a middle schooler, but I am really liking some of Vanessa Hudgens styles.

I like that too....I've never had hair that short but with summer coming up it's SOOOO tempting.

I like this style: http://www.latest-hairstyles.com/gallery/medium/a67.html

Unfortunately, my hair is now (after having kids) looking like this: http://www.latest-hairstyles.com/gallery/medium/a81.html

I hate my hair. Its starting to get straighter on top, so I have frizz on the bottom and straight on top. Niiiiiice. I'm growing out (yet another) short cut, so its just barely shoulder length right now.

I like that one. DH has warned me not to get bangs.
Which kind of makes me want to get bangs.
Melissa, if your hair really looks like that second pic, I think it is pretty cute! But I have learned to love curls since I found I have no choice.

Ok, I want to post a picture of myself, but I am afraid that it will wind up huge. How do I post a little picture?

bubbaray

*I* don't suit not having bangs. I've tried -- I prefer the look of no-bangs. But, seriously, it just doesn't suit me. Then again, if *my* DH told me not to do something, I'd definitely do it, LOL.

I'm not very good with posting pics. I think you have to go to Flicker and resize there.

HTH!

Not huge -- actually, I can't even tell if your hair is curly/wavy or straight.

How short do you want to go? If you want bangs (he he he!), what about this one: http://www.latest-hairstyles.com/gallery/medium/a62.html

Melaine

Yep, I pretty much like all of Vanessa Hudgens hairstyles, but maybe it's because she's just beautiful and maybe it's because they are all very styled.

That is cute but I am afraid of how that might look unstyled, ykwim?
I think I am afraid to cut much length off. I think I need to just add a whole bunch of layers maybe, but bangs still do sound like a good idea.

That is VERY cute. I definitely like it!!
I just started thinking...wonder if I would enough to do locks of love...then maybe I could talk myself into going shorter.

Had to pipe in. When the kids were born I had long hair with bangs. It would have looked allright if I'd had time for hardcore daily blowdrying but instead it ended up in a ponytail every.single.day otherwise I looked like Ugly Betty.

Summer '07 I got a bob (sort of like Posh Spice). It was meh.

Last summer I went short - pixie. Scary move but I love it!

The benefits:
:) Super fast styling time, like 3 minutes including blow dry and product.
:) It's a "style" ya know, like a real 'do as opposed to me just slunking around with a bunch of "hair". I feel much more stylish with my short hair.

I've always heard, and I think it's true, if you're pulling your hair back every day you may as well cut it short because it'll look MUCH better!

Anyway, that's my testimonial for anyone afraid to go short - just do it! And hey, even if you hate it, it'll grow back :)

That is exactly what my hairdresser said at one point -- if your hair is always back, you might as well go short. However, with my (hideous) hair, going short is WAAAAAY too much work. Seriously. The longer my hair is, the less bushy/frizzy it is because of the weight.

:yeahthat: I'm in the same boat. Unless I go crew-cut, it's going to have to be styled.
But the pony tail thing is a true story. I definitely do it more often than not. You know, when I had a long spiral perm, I actually loved my hair, but I am scared to do that again.

Thanks Jo. Maybe I should post pictures in a few days of me trying to recreate the stylist's original....
I am planning on leaving these curls for the entire weekend before I wash it out and try it on my own, so who knows....
on a different note, does anyone know of a hairspray that doesn't smell like anything? B/c I think to keep the curl I'm going to have to spray 'er up, but I HATE the smell of hairspray. *GAG*

IKWYM - I too pull my hair back every single day ... not a day goes by without it in one. I am so ready for a new du ... I am thinking shorter ... but not too short, definitely above the shoulders though.

I am so excited this thread was posted ... it has lit a fire under me to do something with my hair.

Oh! You look beautiful!!!

I totally pictured you different-more like a red head like your girls (at least that's how they look in your avatar).

Melaine

I'm sure you pictured me more like them, but they took after DH, curly blonde hair and blue eyes. Their hair is definitely strawberry blonde. They are often likened to Annie (which they are little enough to think is a compliment!)
Sometimes I actually get a little annoyed when people gush over how cute they are and then ask something to the effect of, "Do they take after your husband?" :hysterical: Thanks a lot!

Melaine, it looks awesome! I am a big fan of longer hair and also working with your own natural texture. After years of straightening my hair, I am learning to love its natural texture...it is very similar to yours. I am just trying to grow it to your length. Mine is a tad shorter. (and actually dark strawberry blonde too, lol)

What did she use to style it? I love it!

Aww thanks! Yeah, I have been laying off the straightening and trying to go with the flow a little. Which is good practice for dealing with DDs hair which obviously will NEVER be straight! She styled it with tons of hairspray (yuck) a silicone gloss type stuff, and a straightener.
Have you ever tried curling with a straightener? I never got the hang of curling with a curling iron, but a straightener makes much more natural, bouncy and softer curls. It's tricky to figure out, but there are some GREAT videos on youtube showing you. I hardly ever use my Chi to straighten, I almost always curl now. If you want me to find some of the videos, let me know.

Man I am envious. I have never gone a year without a haircut. The longest I have gone is 8 weeks and that is really pushing it. I have thick curly hair and have to keep it cut short or bobbed. Your's looks really nice.

I've seen those videos. I've tried it, and I do get great curls. But I still feel like I'm frying my hair with the flat iron, even if I use a heat protectant type of product.

My new thing is this technique...it's called plopping or plunking. I learned about it on a site called naturallycurly.com and also on www.jessicurl.com. The Jessicurl site has a great video, as well as great videos on techniques and product application to get waves/curls, etc. that are frizz free and look great! You don't have to use her products, but they are pretty good. Just a warning, she's a bit goofy, but just ignore it! Her tips and tricks really do work.

I just use a leave in conditioner and then some gel. and I plunk/plop using a microfiber towel and then air dry. Works great and only takes a few minutes. Soooo much easier than straightening or even having to use a curling iron or flat iron to make curls.

Ooooh thank you! That definitely sounds like something I need to check out. ITA about the flat iron curls. I usually do it about once a week, even that is probably not the best. I've heard good things about Jessicurl, too.

Thanks for the link to the plunking video. I'm going to try it.
I've tried everything with my hair - long, short, curly, straight.
Now I wear it long and curly. Like Melaine, once I had DD (who has super curly hair), I just had to learn to embrace the curl!

well, too bad you want long. because i just got a great short, layered, wavy, curly kinda cut!

Lizajane...what does your cut look like? It sounds cute. I'm totally in need of SOMETHING! Right now i have long, layered, wavy kinda cut that is in serious need of shaping. But, DD is a fan of grabbing onto it, so something shorter might be nice.
