I just learned about these (yes, I have been living under a rock!) Where is the cheapest place to get them? Are there similar type bottles that are cheaper?

Here's a thread about water bottles:

I don't know a good place to get Sigg deals, sorry! I love my Siggs. One I've had for well over a year and it's going strong...saved lots of bottles from the landfill!

I just found some cute Sigg knock-offs at Marshalls- they had several stainless Klean Kanteen and thermos knock-offs too.

I haven't seen these, were they in the kitchenwares section or the kids section?

In the kitchenwares. They look just like the kids Siggs with sport cap (twist kind) and domed top.

EMS was having a sale on water bottles a few days ago, but I don't remember when it was supposed to finish. Siggs were included.

There is no cheap place to get them! I usually just buy them at Whole Foods, because by the time I pay shipping, whatever cost savings I had has just been negated.

Honestly, I wouldn't get a SIGG knock-off. Either get a SIGG, or get a stainless steel bottle. The idea of using aluminum containers for our kids' drinking water freaks me out. The reason SIGG is better than most is their mystery lining which protects the water from any contact with the aluminum. Knock-offs most likely don't have any thing comparable. You may want to look at the Kleen Kanteen instead.

Swissknifeshop.com has lots of SIGG styles and free shipping.

We have two Sigg water bottles and I love them, in spite of the price. However, DH has issues with the small bottle I found for our daughter. It is pink with flowers and a fairy on it. It has a domed pink lid. DH refuses to have anything to do with the thing because he thinks it looks like part of male anatomy. My mother thinks it looks obscene, as well. I do feel a little silly for not noticing what everyone else seemed to have noticed right away, but oh well. :duh: It's a water bottle that we paid too much for, and it does a good job keeping water cool and fresh-tasting.

I highly recommend KKs. ITA that I wouldn't be comfortable with the knock-offs (honestly, I'm a little uncomfortable with Siggs as well because of the mystery liner). I have seen knock-offs that look just like Klean Kanteens or Siggs but then turn out to be aluminum which is definitely not something I want to use. I haven't tried these, but I am tempted, they look like they could be comparable to KKs:

If you have a Costco nearby, I have seen recently a pack of Klean Kanteen knock-offs, maybe three or four to the pack. I can't remember the price, but I do recall thinking it was a good deal. I *believe* they were stainless steel, but you would have to check.

I have a Sigg and several KK, and I definitely prefer my KKs.

I also have a KK and love it. I would also be uncomfortable with Sigg's mystery liner or any knock offs.

Well if these costco ones are just Stainless steel, than that would be a good deal. I agree that it's hard to know what's in the mystery liner, let alone what would be in a knock off aluminum bottle. That's why I got rid of the Eddie bauer ones I ordered awhile ago from a deal on here.

We have foogo stainless bottles that I got at BRU and they're great. Has anyone else used those? Or know anything negative about them?

I really liked the girls funtainers when we had them (they look the same, also made by thermos). Then the bottom fell off one (the plastic part attached to the stainless steel). Inside it was all moldy. We had had them for less than 2 months so I was very disconcerted and I had NEVER even run them through the dishwasher, always hand-washed. I returned them but I really hope it was a weird fluke because I really liked them otherwise.

I think the Costco ones were like these:

http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11313687&search=bottle&Dx=mode+matchallpartial&Mo=79&cm_re=1_en-_-Top_Left_Nav-_-Top_search&lang=en-US&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&Sp=S&N=5000043&whse=BC&ViewAll=80&Ntk=Text_Search&Dr=P_CatalogName:BC&Ne=4000000&D=bottle&Ntt=bottle&No=20&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Nty=1&topnav=&s=1

But fewer in the package and a lot cheaper (the online price includes shipping).

Weird. We have one and DS loves it. I could see how moisture could get in there btwn the bottom plastic part and the SS b/c it's not completely sealed. Did they give you any problem returning it?

THanks for the picture. I don't like that screw top and wide open mouth, even for myself.

All,

I bought those bottles from Costco, and posted to an earlier thread that I had a bad experience w/ the new Costco s/s KK knock-offs. I returned them. I tasted the water after it was in the bottle for several hours, and you could taste (and smell!) the metallic taste. It's disgusting.

I liked my Foogos for over a year, until they also started imparting the metallic aftertaste. Nothing worked to get rid of it--baking soda, vinegar.....

Just thought you should know before buying the Costco knockoff.

Those really really do look like KKs. Sometimes companies print their logos on KKs and sell them without even advertising the brand name, so I guess it could be that. Although the tops look a tiny bit different. Still those look good. Something I have found with other stainless steel bottles is that a lot of them are lighter than KKs or the lids do not screw on as well, so I like to check that when looking at them at the stores.

No probs returning cause it was Walmart and I had a receipt. I'm not even sure Walmart still carries them actually.
