Heard it on the radio one day last week. It was raining, starting to storm and had just gotten DD in the car who was freaking out a little - suddenly afraid of storms. It's by a male artist, pretty sure it was a country station. It's a story about how his little girl is running his life, but at the beginning of the song, you think it's his girlfriend/wife. It's not until the end of the song that he reveals that it is his daughter. That's what caught my attention, so I wasn't really paying attention to the lyrics much before that. Any ideas?

Maybe "There Goes My Life" by Kenny Chesney? It's about a man who thinks his life is over because of the new baby but by the end the little girl *is* his life.

Kinda tricky becuase I find a lot of country songs try to throw in that twist ending: crippled brother back from the war, man is singing about a dead woman, cheater becomes cheatee, etc.

"There goes my life" by Kenny Chesney??

I am horrible at naming songs and this is the only one I could think of.

Ok, not much help here, but there is a new song by some guy that when I heard it I wondered if he was talking about his wife and then realized it was his girl. So, I think I know the song, but not who sings it and I can't recall the lyrics. A wedding at the end, right? Big help, huh?

eta: not the song I was thinking of, but looking at recently played songs on a local station I found You're Going to Miss this by Trace Adkins and It Won't be like this for long by Darius Rucker which are both songs about kids. Follow this link

If you look at the 1pm and 2pm listings for 6/8 you'll be able to hear clips from these two songs plus the Kenny Chesney song PPs suggested.

eta again - not a new song but I loved her first by Heartland can be confusing until the refrain. http://www.elyrics.net/read/h/heartland-lyrics/i-loved-her-first-lyrics.html

Also thinking of songs about daughters brought to mind Stealing Cinderella and the Billy Ray/Miley Cyrus duet. Also Alyssa lies but that is definitely not what you are looking for.

Hope someone else chimes in, I only listen to the radio on the way to and from work 3 days a week and I didn't have any luck on the way home tonight.

The first one you described is the one I'm thinking of. It is new and I don't know the artist or the lyrics either! Definitely not the Kenny Chesney song or the other 2 you mentioned. I know all those songs and those aren't the song I heard. The one I heard must be new - I have never heard it before.

No luck listening to the radio today. bumping in case someone else can help.

I heard "I thought I loved you then" by Brad Paisley for the first time today. All about the girlfriend/wife, but mentions a baby. http://www.6lyrics.com/music/brad_paisley/lyrics/i_thought_i_loved_you_then.aspx
